I knew an old man Back when I was four I would go and visit He lived right next door He told me he’d teach me Something he knew There’s only one option When life goes all in on you You gotta play the joker You gotta play the joker When you just wanna choke ‘em Only one way to smoke ‘em Play the joker Well I made through high school GPA 1.4 But that don’t matter Don’t need that no more Cause I got my baby, And I got my car Rollin’ down that highway Thought we’d go far Oh, we were playin' the joker Yeah, playin' the joker We went all in We were ready to win Playin' the joker Well I ran out of money And I ran out of time I was loosin' the rhythm And I couldn’t find no rhyme So I hitched cross country Where I met another man Who had two other buddies So we started a band Oh, we were playin’ the joker Yes, playin’ the joker An impossible hop, But we reached the top Playin’ the joker So when the odds are against you And you don’t know what to do Take a sec and remember What I told you You gotta laugh like a joker

Midnight Cowboy on a trip Bobby Dylan singin’ Blowin’ in the Wind Just his chopper, ridin’ with ghost horses Nashville skyline, and nothing more Rider, Ride on Take your bike and chase the dawn Easy rider, don’t take it slow Each horizon will never know He rides free and easy, becoming one with the wind The long stretch of road is his best friend He’s just a blank page, lives without a plan He holds his baby close ridin’ every bend Rider, Ride on Take your bike and chase the dawn Easy rider, don’t take it slow Each horizon will never know He’s called the Easy rider, He’d give you the shirt of his back Strong willed he rides again And rides off in a flash Rider, Ride on Take your bike and chase the dawn Easy rider, don’t take it slow Each horizon will never know There’s a river, flowing to the sea Wherever it goes, he’ll always be He said, na hey you, eat a peach for peace All that easy rider ever wanted was to be free His woman lets down her hair, as it falls right to her knees With a daisy chain and some Indian beads, He has many things to mend as he passes that milestone He howls “ I will get by” as he rides off into the unknown

Road to Ruin 03:59
In a dream I saw them go Three riders traveling through the snow And I thought when they come back I’ll show How this could die if they never know It was written on the cracked path On the road to ruin On the banks of the brooks old bend No message to her could I send To what far place will I lead my friends Where this disastrous decade ends It was written on the cracked path On the road to ruin In a darkened dream my thoughts lay I drown my feelings but to my dismay The darkness rules and its kingdom’s come Warning breath’s told the battles won It was written on the cracked path On the road to ruin My feet turned cold as I stood by the path Where gasps of agony and death will laugh I taste the wind and felt its fire Those who know the truth the wind’s a liar It was written on the cracked path On the road to ruin

What a cream, what a cream filled dream To be free, to be free like a leaf Now your book has a tear at the seams Now what’s left, now what’s left of your dreams Were her schemes, where her schemes like a swollen peach? Or was she, or was she just a cream puff dream? You looked up but you didn’t see She not real, like reality To her, to her, I’m a little pea She seems, she seems to stare right through me I’m not, I’m not gonna let things be My cream puff, my cream puff don’t leave me

about

Pretty Odd's debut pays homage to the film, "Easy Rider" and follows a similar course to any standard Led Zeppelin, or AC/DC album. Many influences such as the Beatles, The Stones and other heavy rock groups can be heard through the songs on this EP. "Play The Joker" recalls the early Bon Scott led AC/DC by establishing a hell bent and carefree attitude to the song, while "Cream Puff Dream" portrays the bands more psychedelic sounds about a mysterious girl. "Ballad Of The Rider," the EP's title, holds the same power as any Led Zeppelin track with the motorcycle image of any Steppenwolf song. "Road to Ruin" recalls the sounds of The Doors and Black Sabbath with its dark lyrics about death and destruction. The EP is a towering statement of heavy rock, and is a flashback to the sounds of many classic rock artists.

about

Pretty Odd Raleigh, North Carolina

Two friends, Wesley Hitson and Pierce Clawson, had a dream of forming a rockin' band in the midst of the pop dominated music scene when they were just starting high school. The two spent two years putting together talented musicians to create a revival of the old ways of music. In doing this, they found Louis Montgomery, and the twin sisters Willow and Savannah Patten and formed Pretty Odd. ... more
